Michigan now among 10 states with average gas price above $4 per gallon

Michigan's average price for a gallon of regular unleaded gas is $4.01, according to AAA.
Michigan’s average gas price rose 4 cents over the week to an average of $4.01 per gallon of regular unleaded fuel.
The price is 28 cents higher than this time last year, according to Dearborn-based auto group AAA Michigan.
The national average is $3.86 per gallon, up 3 cents from last week and 26 cents more than last year.
Michigan has the 9th highest average gas price in the nation, according to AAA. Hawaii has the most expensive gas at $4.41 per gallon, while Mississippi has the least expensive fuel at $3.61 per gallon.
The Saginaw-Bay City-Midland area has the lowest average price of $3.89 compared to the nine other metro areas in AAA’s fuel gauge report. The Ann Arbor area has the most expensive average price of $4.08 per gallon.
AAA bases its report on a survey of 2,800 Michigan gas stations. Today’s price report is based on the last credit card transaction at each station on Sunday.
The lowest price reported on www.michigangasprices.com this morning was $3.73 at a station in Corunna. The highest price on the site was $4.39 at a station in Romulus, reported last night.
The website reports user-submitted data on gas prices at specific stations. |
