Flint Neighborhoods United

Flint Neighborhoods United is a coalition of block club, neighborhood association and crime watch captains and presidents (or their designated representative) who come together on the first Saturday of each month to share information and leverage their resources to create positive change in the Greater Flint community. The group’s focus is from a city-wide perspective versus the focus of the individual members on a specific neighborhood or area within the city. The group has three goals. They are:
1.Improve communication among and between stakeholders at all levels.
2.Proactively address conditions in Flint neighborhoods that give rise to crime, social disorder and fear of crime.
3.Re-establish a city-wide sense of community with a shared responsibility.

I understand there will be seven areas targeted and only 2 to 3 people working per site. They expect the task will take less than 3 hours.

Sorry but I do not know the target areas yet.

The clean up has been moved to the spring as it is too wet and too cold now!

Due to the weather predictions for tomorrow (below 50 degree temperature
and rain) we regrettably are postponing the Graffiti Free Day until Spring
of 2014.

We appreciate everyone's willingness to help out in this great effort. We
most graciously appreciate the donations from Home Depot for the paint,
supplies and manpower and the manpower from Target Stores and to each of
you who had given a commitment. However it would be wasteful of all our
time and the resources if we paint in cold weather. As we say in police
language.....

....Stand by.... We'll see you in Spring of 2014.

Today after 5 p.m. there was a vehicle parked with hazard lights flashing on northbound Chavez, between Kearsley and Longway. A person nearby was using roller and brown paint to cover graffiti on brick wall bordering I-475. Thank you, one dedicated volunteer!!

Might have been a dedicated Citizens Nuisance Task force guy. He is doing some great things. Check out his raised brick flower bed at Broadway and Franklin.
