FLINT, MI -- Consumers Energy officials say they have restored service to the Mott Building after the gas main that supplied the building was damaged during the Genesee Towers implosion.
Debra Dodd, a spokeswoman with Consumers Energy, said crews finished repairs on the steel pipe that was crushed when a portion of the building fell on it during the Sunday, Dec. 22, implosion.
A portable natural gas trailer was brought in to provide service to the building so it could be heated until the repairs could be made, but Dodd said the trailer was unable to keep up with the gas demand from the building.
Attorney Frank J. Manley, whose office is in the Mott Building, said Monday, Dec. 23, that the temperature inside the building was beginning to fall since the heat was knocked out by the broken gas main.
Utility crews had to access the damaged main through a roughly 40-foot tall pile of debris from the implosion.
Removal of the debris is scheduled to begin after the holiday season, according to implosion officials. |

Do they mean that with all of their specialists in place, no one saw this as a possibility. To be honest I hoped the Towers would fall into the Mott Foundation building. I was disappointed to see the north east corner tip first onto Harrison.
With so many thousands of residents without power (and many still are) I was angered to see the resources that had to be employed to fix this problem caused by a man engineered source. |

What do Republicans have to do with this? And why would you be surprised to hear that from them? |
