Taking a walk along the Flint River will be easier thanks to a $93,500 grant from the Ruth Mott Foundation to the Greater Flint Health Coalition's Flint River Trail Committee.
Areas along the river that will get extra attention include the Kearsley loop, Hamilton Avenue to N. Dort Highway and from the University of Michigan-Flint to Hamilton Avenue.
Over the next three to five years, overgrown weeds, thick brush and dead or diseased trees will be removed, and signage showing mileage and historical references will be erected.
The committee is chaired by University of Michigan-Flint staff members Theresa Landis and Becky Pettengil
