Less than 24 hours after Flint city council adopted its budget, there are rumblings in the mayor's office that the council's budget process could be illegal.
There are also rumblings about the firing of another top department head.
Council adopted the budget last night. In doing so, council members revised the mayor's budget, shutting down the city attorney's office and moving her into the mayor's suite.
They also proposed eliminating the budget for mayoral appointees, like aide Joe Conroy.
Also last night, council moved to create a line item budget, where every dollar of proposed spending by the mayor would have to be approved by the City Council.
Mayor Don Williamson wouldn't talk about the budget today, but did talk about firing City Finance Director Peter Dobrezeniecki.

The mayor says the city has three finance directors and no longer needed Dobrezeniecki and that the city could do better without him.
The mayor is waiting to hear from the city attorney about the legality of the City Council's proposed budget .
