Worst free agent signings
1. Fernando Vina, Tigers — Two years at $6 million for a 35-year-old second baseman coming off significant injury symbolized Detroit's horrible offseason in which it also severely overpaid for Ivan Rodriguez, Rondell White and Jason Johnson. An AL exec said, "This is what happens when an organization totally panics. They won't lose 120 games again, but they will still be terrible and waste a lot of money." |
