Hey, does the Flint Police dept have any type of "Code of Conduct'? Something that lays out for them how to treat people. I was also interested in their "Oath" don't they swear some type of oath as police officers? Can I just go down to the Dept and request a copy of such? |

Jerry,
I am sure they do. If they don't give you this info you could FOIA it.
Freedom of Information Act. I am guessing you already know about this. |

Sure, I know you can use the FOIA to get information. However, what i'm looking for should have been online at the Flint website. It should be posted at the Department to remind Officers daily of who they are! Just like in the USMC. You find reminders constantly of who you are and what your responsibilities are.
Some of the things posted in most every building and work space.
Code of conduct.
Motto.
Leadership Steps.
Leadership Traits. (some with definitions)
Historic dates in USMC history.
Names of Famous Marines in History.
Banners, Unit and company.
Placards of USMC sayings such as "Once a Marine always a Marine"
Constant reinforcement of God, Country, Corps.
Constant reinforcement of Pride in Unit, Corps and Country.
Constant reinforcement of Duty, Honor, integrity.
Constant reminder of Traditions
And when it comes time for promotion boards. Much of the things you are asked are about the things you see everyday.
I'm not saying posting reminders of "Protect and Serve" in the department are going to make changes. Only that I see no evidence of any reinforcement of What they are, what their responsibilities are, who they work for, etc. |
