The nation looks at Flint like the shithole of the country. We need people in positions of leadership who can guide us toward doing a better job of managing the rest of the country's perception of us. Life is about managing other people's perceptions. i.e. if the world thinks you're a jerk, then you haven't done a very good job of managing their perception. Maybe you think you're not a jerk - and maybe you aren't. But if the rest of the world thinks you are - well then, you've done a poor job of managing their perception.
