I tried to advertise in the Flint Journal today. Basically I am pretty much completely banned from advertising my internet website
http://mysearchisover.com
that I own. I was trying to advertise the jobs directory that I have but was bascially told I would not be allowed to advertise anywhere in the Flint Journal for my website. I feel this is very detrimental to me as an entrepreneur. Since the Flint Journal is part of a conglomerate I could be in effect facing a statewide ban on advertising. Although I am a national website and have even done some global internet advertising I do consider this a major setback. I am able to do political advertising in the Flint Journal as long as I make no mention of the internet site that I own. Although I understand it is perfectly legal for the Flint Journal to dicriminate against me for whatever reason or perhaps even no reason at all I do find it unfortunate.
On a brighter note I had a very good experience talking to ABC 12 and do plan on advertising with them in the future.

Adam,
Maybe they felt it was detrimental to their own advertisement business?
Have you tried the other magazines that flow thru the colleges? |

I think everyone else will let me advertise but the Flint Journal is a killer. They're also part of a conglomerate so I could be facing a virtual statewide ban. Not being able to go in papers like the Flint journal will cost me more money to advertise and be less effective at the same time. I'm thinking I'll go for the radio. I could say something like come see the jobs directory and website the Flint Journal doesn't want to see. I see this as a campaign killer as well. I can basically forget about name recognition from Flint Journal readers. For political adertising I can't even mention my business.
