The shipment the store received which was soaked (we submitted a UPS claim through the shipper) reminded me of The Goodie Barn which got its inventory from insurance companies. I wonder what will happen to the damp computer motherboards, fans and DVD burners after UPS picks up the box? The package was reboxed with the shipping label peeled from the wet box to the new box. Anyone have any memories of The Goodie Barn? I still have a cheapie Toshiba shortwave radio I got from them back in the '70s. DAMN! that could have been a Semi-Pro prop! |

I remember. Actually I dated the daughter of the man who started the Goodie Barn, her name was Paula. I met her through her grandmother who worked at the Reigle Funeral Home on south Saginaw. Paula was a beautiful young woman.

Goodie Barn was a frequent shopping adventure for DH and I. You never knew what was coming in.
Wpaper was cheap! Put it everywhere in the house, layers of it. Moved from that house 2 years ago, painted over the Wpaper and did a faux paint treatment. Sorry to whoever buys it - if it ever sells Karma got us back, we spent hours stripping old Wpaper off the walls in our new home; and the walls underneath were so rough - we did a faux finish. HGTV where were you when I thought Wpaper was wonderful.
We had a huge yard sale before we moved, a lot of the stuff we got rid of came from the Goodie Barn. Boxes of Wpaper rolls got scooped up! Not so much of a packrate at the new place. Especially after seeing what one accumulates in 40 years and tucks away.
BTW does -anyone remember the frozen blankets? We never got in on that deal. |

I bought a bunch of guitars from them after whatever big early 90's hurricane blew through Florida. I loved that place.

I remember buying a doghouse for our first family pet at a place I think was called the Whoopee Bowl. Any body remember this place? I couldn't have been more than 7 when we did this. |

On Dixie Highway. The building's still there, but I don't know if they're still in business. |

I remember going to the Whoopee Bowl. It was still open in the late 90's. When you walked in there was a haze in the air... no wait... that was dust. And probably a lot of asbestos (it was an old bulding). Geez, no wonder I always cough and hack. It's not my allergies, it's the Whoopee Bowl! I'm suing! |
