HB 5807 http://www.legislature.mi.gov/(S(svhhei45rvqcib454ybk40qt))/mileg.aspx?page=getObject&objectName=2008-HB-5807 uses money that would have otherwise gone to fight bovine tuberculoses to boost the industry and make track improvements. Lawmakers felt comfortable making the move in light of new federal money that will be spent on the rising bovine tuberculoses problem in Michigan." The Conference Report reduces the appropriations from the Agriculture Equine Industry Development Fund for Bovine TB by $1,471,600 and shifts that funding to $991,600 for horse racing and $480,000 for building and track improvements at fairs.
