I just can't believe we continue to pay this company as they f*** over our troops again and again and again...
WASHINGTON — Shoddy electrical work by private contractors on United States military bases in Iraq is widespread and dangerous, causing more deaths and injuries from fires and shocks than the Pentagon has acknowledged, according to internal Army documents.
My favorite excerpt:
But the Pentagon did little to address the issue until a Green Beret, Staff Sgt. Ryan D. Maseth, was electrocuted in January while showering.

As an electrician, I am appalled.
As an American, I am even more appalled |

The subject begs the question of who private contractors are hiring to do the work--certified electricians, or simply untrained locals who work for peanuts. Also, whether the parts, material and equipment being used meet quality standards as they are supposed to here in the U.S. What's going on certainly does nothing to help our reputation of trying to help the Iraqis. This isn't the first story about shoddy construction over there by private contractors, and it's not just on military bases. What a waste of money! |
