Is it just me or is this guy trying to rule the freaking world?

Shouldn't his primary goal be to insure the security of the U.S.?

It sounded to me like he was more interested in curing the ills in Africa and the Middle East than he was in protecting the soverignity of the U.S..

This guy is SCARY>

Not to mention blowing off visiting the wounded troops in Germany because he couldn't bring his campaign workers and media people for photo ops.

Public D,

I may be mistaken, but I don't think the vetrans from WWII had a choice except to serve since there was a draft in place......right? I think the solodiers that join the military now do it voluntarily......right? Their agreement is written in plaing English...and Spanish for that matter so they KNOW what they are getting into when the join....right?

McCain does not support giving huge inducments for soldiers that opt out early. He promotes the fact that these guys and gals should get the benefits of large inducements if they re-up and become career soldiers. If we make the incentive too great for early outs there will more incentive to stay.

BTW, how long and in what service did you serve in?

I'm an onward christian soldier who knows many of those who join and die do so out of strong family traditions and real patriotism. I also know many do so to improve their own lot in life. Either way is a good enough reason for me to return the favor of a future when they return. You tell me, how many risky tours should it take a vet to deserve a degree from an institution of higher education in a nation that now requires one to even think about making a living wage? I'm for military cuts everywhere practical (especially Iraq) to fund access to education for all Americans - with veterans at the front of the line. BTW, how many times did you re-up?
