I love the smell of nitro & burning rubber. It smells like................HORSEPOWER!!!
TT, can you imagine an NHRA national event in the Flint area?

Hey Dave, would you mind if they put it in YOUR neighborhood? Just wondering, I think it would be torture for the people who live near it. |

I'd be all for it. We already have motorcycles & assorted wanna-be hot rodders racing up & down the street every night. At least a drag strip would have scheduled hours. On the other hand, those clowns' cars couldn't pass the safety inspection.
It would make more sense to have it in a less populated area, though. Another thing - to do it right, you need a stretch at least 3/4 of a mile long, and preferably a mile long. The nitro cars could use at least a 1/2 mile to get stopped. It takes a lot to stop a car going 300+ mph. To me, that would eliminate the Bluff St. location people are speculating about. |

There's speculation in the Journal that Bluff St., near Chevy in the hole is being looked at. |

What would make sense instead of 1/4 mi drags would be 1/8 mi . Less top end speed less room needed still a lot of fun.

I'd support it. After seeing all the great local cars on the Bricks, and with our natural tie-in to the automotive industry, I'd be perfectly happy to have a multi-use competition area: drags, carts, drifting, cruises, all of it. Sound can be minimized with natual berms. Location is key. Let's use google maps and start making a list of proposed spots. |
