Flint Mayor Don Williamson is reacting to Flint's north plant 36 shutting down. At a press conference Monday the Mayor says the closing is devastating and catastrophic. He says Congress is to blame. He says US vehicles are taxed heavily overseas, while foreign vehicles aren't taxed the same here.
The Mayor says he's taking the fight to Delphi. He's meeting with the company chairman this Wednesday. The Mayor says he has a plan to keep employees pay, healthcare, and pension plans intact. Williamson didn't give details of the plan. He says he won't let Delphi operate without paying its fair share of local taxes.

If Don can pull that off. I truly doubt he can. I just wish more people would go the extra mile in pointing out the disproportionate amount of taxes paid by U.S. companies here in the US just trying to compete here. US companies are expected to bear the burden of taxes for having their plants here. Then compete with companies that have moved overseas and pay little or no taxes whatsoever, NAFTA, CAFTA Why have a plant in the US when you can ship it back in without paying even a small fraction of what you did when the plant was here. |
