In an effort to make the city "cleaner and safer," officials announced new garbage collection guidelines Monday.
Mayor Don Williamson and Transportation Director Bill Ayre said trash and yard waste will be collected on the same day, unlike the current system. The new guidelines, outlined in a brochure the city is distributing door-to-door, will take effect Monday.
Included in the new plan:
A limit of 20 bags of garbage, 20 bags of yard waste and four large items per week.
Garbage must be set out by 7 a.m. on the day of collection and no earlier than 7 p.m. on the evening before the collection.
Collection will be delayed one day after national holidays.
Liquids, hazardous waste, and demolition material are some of the materials that won't be accepted.
For special services, such as assistance for the handicapped, dead animal removal or remodeling materials that need to be collected, contact the sanitation department.
Details: (810) 766-7076.

Cool That's one of the best ideas i've heard out of this administration.
Maybe we should have Mr. Ayers run the Police Dept also. |
