Huffington Post: The "depression" started in Flint
By Scott Atkinson | The Flint Journal
December 16, 2009, 9:12AM
In a recent Huffington Post blog, historian and writer Jo Guldi states that, "The depression didn't start on Wall Street; it started in Flint, Michigan several decades ago."
That's the first sentence of Guldi's post, and she references Flint several other times throughout the article.
Guldi criticizes the concept of "shrinking cities," and the demolition of homes by the Genesee County Land Bank.
"Shrinking Cities Policy is directly standing in the way of more progressive solutions. In 2007, as mortgages crashed, the Washington Post lauded Dan Kildee, founder of Flint's Land Bank and evangelist of the Shrinking Cities plan," Guldi writes. |
