There are still two candidates standing in the way of Woodrow Stanley taking a seat on the Genesee County Board of Commissioners. Stanley faces the pair in the November general election. The other candidates are:
Republican Tom Finn, who pulled 123 votes in the Republican primary election Tuesday compared with Stanley's 2,486 in the Democratic primary. Finn, an Army veteran and 30-year General Motors employee, asked in a news release this week, "Does it make sense to put county spending in the hands of the same man who ruined the city's finances?''
Flint promoter and businessman Mac McCrary, who has a spot as an independent candidate on the ballot. McCrary tried but failed to bring a professional basketball team to Flint and Saginaw. He has also claimed to have worked with the Sault Ste. Marie Tribe of Chippewa Indians about locating a gambling casino in Flint.
