Hello,
I left Civic Park area after graduating from High School in 1964. Moved to Linden to Silver Lake off Owen Road. Left Flint in 1970. Never returned.

I am reading all of these comments but remain riveted on the possibility of reviving the area. If anyone is a member of any organization that hopes to restore the Civic Park District, please let me know.

Perhaps it is living on Maui my whole adult life that keeps me believing anything is possible.

After all, the depression left things at least as decayed as they are today, yet America was rebuilt by those to dreamed of a new beginning.

Thanks for letting me know your thoughts.

In the Lawndale, Forest Hill, Hamilton & Dayton area, there are more abandoned houses than occupied. Dayton between Proctor & Forest Hill has 2 occupied houses. The rest are beyond salvage. A lot of the properties are owned by the land bank, which does nothing to secure them or mow the grass.
If there are any organizations trying to restore the area, I haven't heard of them, and I've lived in the area since 1968.
Civic park School is closed, and the school board will probably follow their usual practice of doing nothing but let the building sit there & slowly decay. It's a shame - that's where our son & daughter went.
