There are some crimes so horrendous that only the death penalty can be seen as serving justice.Serial and child murder, mass murder (in the name of God or political cause). these crimes are commited by individuals who have abdicated their humanity.
I understand that capital punishment has been used unfairly in the past .It is probable that innocent people have died with its missuse.and I don't suggest its routine application. Certainly we must guard against over zealous politicians, using a tragedy to their own ends.Yet there are instances where the facts are not is dispute, and the punishment must fit the crime.

I think it should also be applied in even a failed attempt at mass murder such as the recent NY scare. |

Personally, I know this would never work because of "cruel and unusual punishment" rules, but I thing people who commit heinous murders should be sentenced to die the way they killed their victims. If it was OK by the murdered to do it to his victim, then it is good enough for their execution. |
