Daring Duo Robs Party Store Twice In One Night
Flint Convenience Store Robbery Caught On Tape

FLINT, Mich. -- Police are investigating a bold robbery at a Flint party store.

The robbery happened sometime overnight at the Shop and Go on Pearson and Fleming roads and authorities are searching for two suspects.

The store owner, Goldie Singh, said the pair knocked out the lights on the side of the building so they wouldn't be seen in the early hours of the morning.

And then they either jumped on an electric meter or had a ladder to crawl up to the window on the side of the store.

The pair then broke out the window, which was made of bulletproof glass.

On the store surveillance tape, one man can be seen stealing whatever he wanted from behind the liquor counter while another man stole spools of lottery tickets and cigarettes.

The entire robbery lasted more than 45 minutes, allowing the men time to even to rummage through the store's safe.

In all, Singh said the men made off with $40,000 to $50,000 worth of merchandise.

Liquor bottles and cigars were still strewn about the area Wednesday after the thieves made their escape.

Singh said it took police three and a half hours to show up at his family-owned store, a fact that has sent his frustration through the roof.

The store’s alarm company called 911 when the side window broke, but Singh said no one showed up. “From a one to 10, I say a 10,” said Singh. “We don't have enough police officers in town."

The burglars took notice of that fact too, as they showed up 20 minutes later to grab another armful of booze and cigars.

Singh said he’s been in business at that location for six years and it’s the first time his story has been broken into.

Singh believes he knows where his merchandise went, but now he wants to know where his tax dollars are going.

“Where is the money going?” asked Singh. The 2009 Flint city budget funded 140 police officers, but the latest budget only approved funding for 132.

Many Flint residents and business owners, like Signh, are fearful that will soon mean more layoffs and less police protection.

Great. This place is gonna look like Escape From New York soon. Or Life After People.

I wonder how they were able to access the safe, though? Must be a former employee or something...
