Depending on whom you talk to, the city must repay $600,000 to 700,00 to HUD. If HUD insists on general fund dollars, the city is in bad shape. This is on top of the over $190,000 coming out of the CDBG to pay for OK Industies and Crawley 108 loans. With one more OIG compalint in the works, look for more repayments to come.
The Action Plan should have had council approval in May and the congressional release would have been in August. My understanding is that the Plan must be approved by Congress and that cannot occur until September 8th and there is an additional 45 days before the money is released. In other words, there can be no contracts issued until then.Some observers can't believe these delays are occurring. |
