If the guard started patroling Flints high crime areas just what would they do? Would they actually be armed with loaded firearms would they shoot on sight the gangbangers and drug dealers.? Stop and frisk suspicious looking perps? Go into the LBJ public housing units and root out the drugs, gangbangers and illegal guns? I can see the ACLU all over this and of course the liberal whiners would back them up. It aint gonna change a thing.

Adam- On this one the Twotap is right.

Flint Housing could expell a number of gangs and drug dealers, but they haven't. But then where would they move.

It probably wouldn't but candle light vigils, community meetings "coming together" and working for positive change hasn't really helped but we at least try that over and over and over again.

People in Flint don't really seem to care when our body count rises. The National Guard might at the very least be able to annoy people so we'd do more than just candlelight vigils.

There are many that agree with you. It certainly might cut down on the random shooting. Kids out after curfew could be dealt with and those with guns might be able to be taken somewhere. Interesting idea. While it would not help withthe domestic crimes and crimes of passion, it certainly could curtail some organized types of crime.

Once again I ask just what the role of untrained in law enforcement volunteer national guardsmen would play? The first time they bust a cap on some 16 year old armed hiphoppin banger who was just turning his live around will be the end of their involvement and a whopping lawsuit against the city and probably the state.
I think an armed vigilante squad probably makes more sense since they would know who the punks are and who needs to be taken out.

As I was looking at some articles I kept, I found one that discussed how the police in LA were training some military in urban guerilla warfare. maybe the LA Cops could train the national guard,

twotap it appears the armed vigilante group idea is out of the question.

Too bad you have to fight fire with fire. These cobras, crips whatever need to be dealt with on the same level they are using. Of course we know the vigilante thing wont come about the higher ups in the PD department along with the mayor and the council would declare all out war against anyone attempting it.
