Michigan Economic Development Corporation, Flint Booming

From Bottom to Booming in 2 Years

A big part of my job is telling folks about Flint all of the great things that are happening inside the city and the opportunities that are here for them. Flint truly is a great place to live and work.

Recently, the State of Michigan’s economic develop arm, the Michigan Economic Development Corporation, put together a video called “From Bottom to Booming in 2 years” that highlights some of the great things that are happening now in Flint. You can watch the entire video by clicking here.

In the video Diplomat Specialty Please delete me! President and CEO Phil Hagerman talks about Diplomat’s decision to stay and expand in Flint saying that “We believed that this community was the right place to stay and we got great support from the City of Flint.” Diplomat has hired hundreds of new employees and is on pace to be a billion dollar company in the next year.

Amy Farmer, Complex Director for GM’s Flint Manufacturing Operations, and Barry Campbell from UAW Local 598 talk about adding a third shift to Flint assembly in the video as well. The addition of a third shift meant more than 700 jobs were brought back to Flint.

The Genesee Regional Chamber’s Tim Herman talks about all the great things that are happening downtown from new restaurants and residential lofts to business offices making downtown their home again.

I always get excited when I have a chance to tell people about all the progress we’ve made in the last two years and all the exciting things that are happening Flint. Now thanks to MEDC we have one more tool to get that message out. I hope you’ll share this video with your friends, family, neighbors and coworkers to show them how Flint’s gone from Bottom to Booming in 2 years.

Sincerely,

Dayne Walling
