I certainly hope this gets you to STOP buying CITGO gas. As Chavez took over the last privately held oil field in Venezuela his recently purchased Russian-made jets flew over head as Chavez shouted "Down with the U.S. Empire!"
Just how stupid are we to continue to buy his gas through his gas stations while this continues to happen.
STOP BUYING CITGO GAS!

Buy Your Gas at Citgo: Join the BUY-cott!

Looking for an easy way to protest Bush foreign policy week after week? And an easy way to help alleviate global poverty? Buy your gasoline at Citgo stations.

And tell your friends.

Of the top oil producing countries in the world, only one is a democracy with a president who was elected on a platform of using his nation's oil revenue to benefit the poor. The country is Venezuela. The President is Hugo Chavez. Call him "the Anti-Bush."

Citgo is a U.S. refining and marketing firm that is a wholly owned subsidiary of Venezuela's state-owned oil company. Money you pay to Citgo goes primarily to Venezuela -- not Saudi Arabia or the Middle East. There are 14,000 Citgo gas stations in the US. (Click here http://www.citgo.com/CITGOLocator/StoreLocator.jsp to find one near you.) By buying your gasoline at Citgo, you are contributing to the billions of dollars that Venezuela's democratic government is using to provide health care, literacy and education, and subsidized food for the majority of Venezuelans.

Instead of using government to help the rich and the corporate, as Bush does, Chavez is using the resources and oil revenue of his government to help the poor in Venezuela. A country with so much oil wealth shouldn't have 60 percent of its people living in poverty, earning less than $2 per day. With a mass movement behind him, Chavez is confronting poverty in Venezuela. That's why large majorities have consistently backed him in democratic elections. And why the Bush administration supported an attempted military coup in 2002 that sought to overthrow Chavez.

So this is the opposite of a boycott. Call it a BUYcott. Spread the word.

Of course, if you can take mass transit or bike or walk to your job, you should do so. And we should all work for political changes that move our country toward a cleaner environment based on renewable energy. The BUYcott is for those of us who don't have a practical alternative to filling up our cars.

So get your gas at Citgo. And help fuel a democratic revolution in Venezuela.

Chavez maybe doing some good things for his people but his attack on Bush an the "United States empire" is very negative propaganda against us.
He has called Bush the devil at several International meetings.Im not even a Republican.Unfortunatly the American people will continue to buy Citgo gas just as long as its a few cents cheaper per gallon. Shocked

I have to say that we as Americans need to be concerned with what happens in America. Who gives a rats ass about another Dictator run government who hates the US. If it were not for the US these oil producing countries would be nothing, PERIOD! Chavez has Russian-made jets and has no way to sell his oil to Russia because they have their own supplies. It's too far for him to ship his oil to India due to costs. So in essence, the USA purchased Russian-made jets via the gas we purchase through CITGO stations.
Americans have always banned together in a crisis and we need to this NOW buy not buying CITGO gas. Let Chavez see those revenues drop and he will be begging for the USA to get involved. It was the the USA oil companies that made it possible for the oil to even get out of the ground.
Any country that does not like the USA should be banned from having anything to do with with us!

Unfortunately Richard, the USA can not afford to NOT do business with the countries that 'do not like the USA'. If that were the case, you would'nt be able to shop at Walmart or any other discount retailer, the price of goods in America would be ridiculous! We depend on trade partners who can not STAND the United States, as most countries around the world do, whether you know it or not. Without those cheap automotive parts from China, clothing made in malaysia, and with all of the other consumables and resources purchased from some of these countries, we would be up shit creek. This administration would never turn their backs on the corporate cronies who fill line the pockets and campaign coffers of the legislative and executive branch of this government and eliminate 'fair trade' with those countries who dont 'like the USA'.

The USA depends on the labor, textiles and manufactured goods from other countries far more than other countries rely on the U.S. We Need THEM...To most of the world, the USA is a big bully who makes its own rules and strong arms other governmentsto fulfill its own will around the world.

Rather than stop buying Citgo, you would rather buy from the oil companies with record profits when gas is nearing $3.25 A GALLON? who benefit from these ridiculous profits? the Oil Company shareholders (not you and me), the oil lobby and the congressman who take their money to keep legislation as it is. The oil company lobby works hard, with a lot of YOUR money to suppress legislation supporting ethanol, hybrid vehicles, reduced emissions and timelines for a minimum mpg requirement...why? because it will take money away from the oil industry if that type of legislation passes.

Forget your boycott of Citgo, why dont you all start from the top here in the United States and elect leaders that arent held hostage by big oil and that don't leave their public service positions after their service for a comfy lobbying or executive position with those very oil companies that supported them. Elect a leader that will limit profits and keep prices down for the american people, Elect a leader that will use diplomacy rather than war. Elect leaders that will work with our trade partners who dont 'like us' to work out better and more effective trade agreements. Better yet, "buy american"! chances are, there's not much really made here...

You all need to accept this and accept it soon before it passes by you and in twenty years you find yourself asking why were speaking chinese or indian, jobless and in poverty...The United States is no longer the economic center of the world. Your government has emboldended other nations, including the ones that 'dont like us' so that corporate america can become greedier and richer... Not only that, your government has taken resources that should have been used to improve the educational system and prepare its workers to be global business citizens with usefull skills and have used it to throw its weight around the world...But unfortunately, the short sighted gains that the U,S,. expected to see in Iraq and with their "global war on terror' will only lead to another generation of disenfranchised youth, resentment around the world, elimination of domestic spending and programs used to improve the lives and skills of its own americans....hmmm,,,that bit of Chavez's socialism doesnt seem so bad after all....especially if we don't do business with those countries who 'hate us'....because if we dont, we will all be poor and not be able to afford a damn thing. We'll all need some government help then, eh?

And dont think that the oil companies are turning around with those record profits and investing them into programs and communities in the UNited States. As profits are record high, community investment by these companies are at record lows (I know, i am a corporate fundraiser). Most of their community investment goes to the countries where their employees live which is NOT the United States.....

Everyone needs gas and wants to spend the least money possible.. Don't think that not buying from citgo will make any difference. Too many of you (the public) are too selfish to know how their dollar affects anyone other than themselves. It's ridiculous.

And...

What is a dictator if not this?

a man who demands

1) The right to become president even if its people didnt elect him,,,twice!
2) The right to torture.
3) The right to wiretap anyone he wants without a warrant.

Or....who has attributes of an facist authoritarian for that matter..
1) nationalism,
2) authoritarianism,
3) militarism,
4) corporatism,
5) collectivism,
6) totalitarianism,
7) opposition to economic and political liberalism.

i don't think any of these describe Hugo Chavez....its your very own George W. Bush....and thats why other countries CANT STAND US.

Irregardless of what Bush has done or not done, we have lost the American pride and the only thing that matters is MONEY! We start by not supporting Dictators who hate us and we can succeed if Americans do this as a whole. Sometimes you have to pay more to get in place what is really the best for the people. The Americans have sold their soul to Dictators to save a few pennies. In Veneguelza gas is only .14 cents a gallon but that same gas is sold in the states for over 3 bucks with the proceeds going to by Russian-made jets! That is not feeding the poor and the reality of it is: "Not all countries can live like Americans."
STOP BUYING CITGO GAS!

Richard,
I hear you, we are not too far apart on this one...but its so much easier said than done..

you say,
"Sometimes you have to pay more to get in place what is really the best for the people."
The truth is, and we all know it, Americans as a while are completely unwilling to do this. The mighty dollar is the bottom line and for the most part, American's live in the present, are short sighted without regard to how this affects their communities, or the world in the long run. You all go to Target, Wal-Mart, buy the cheapest car, buy the cheapest gas, buy the cheapest food. I know there are few of us who do, but how many of you spend more money to give your business to the local mom and pop store grocery or clothing store, the neighborhood plumber or buy local produce? No, you all go to the store with cheapest goods even if it is supporting manufacturers of these goods in China....even when you've lost your own manufacturing job to outsourcing?!!

Yes, we've lost American pride, no doubt...we've sold our souls to the corporate elite....They are the ones that shape policies, the economics and the future of this once fine country. And we elect politicians that allow them to do so.

You certainly have your way of looking at this and it is obvious you do not care for Bush. Even though I am a republican and voted for him twice, I would not make the same decicion if I could do it over. But hindsight is 20/20.
I appreciate your thoughts and love bantering with you.

I'm not a fan of socialism. I avoid Citgo. Besides, with what you save with a speedway card, why would you go anywhere else?

Surely you don't rely on the corporate monopolized mainstream media for all of your information needs, and hopefully you dont base your thoughts, decisions and actions based upon what Roger Ailes, Ted Turner and Rupert Murdoch tell you what to do...I can rebuff all of those links with just as many opposing ones. Be open minded and look at all opposing viewpoints and educate yourself on the other side of the coin. We're too lazy now and soak up what lou dobbs, shephard smith and BIll OReilley tells us without any regard to the other viewpoints and positions are available....if one would only look....
