Rumors are this is where it will be by Memorial Day and that is with oil only at $63.00 a barrel. Gas prices are not oil price related and just greedy oil companies screwing the American public. Last year when oil was at $63 we paid only $2.10 a gaool so what int he hell is going on? |

Chavez nationalizing everything in Venezuela, "unrest" in the Middle East, lack of refinery capacity. I don't think there's been a new refinery built in 30 years or more, thanks to environmental rules and NIMBY. I left out greed. |

its more than just the price of the barrel. its where is it going....in fact price might be down because there might be fewer barrels being bought to be refined into gas vice other uses.
I had heard refining capacity was down recently...refineries down for what purpose? I don't know haven't explored it.
it certainly can be manipulated, but it could also be for legitimate reasons. keep in mind also, because so many states have defined specific formulations, that regional shortages can appear all the time; what is ther several dozen different formulations across the country? That means if a refinery serving our area goes down, refineries serving say, Chigao can't supply us, because the acceptable gas formulation is different by statute.
perhaps we should push for fewer if not a single [California will always have a stricter requirement] acceptable formulation of gasoline. |

Yes, we will be paying more for gas than ever before! This is because our president and his friends make so much money off of oil/gas.
