What does my BIG fence have to do with anything? It was there when I bought the house.... Everyone's always worried about my big FENCE... lol

If Walling hasn't been in Carriage Town why are there so many of his signs in peoples yards? Maybe your big fence Ryan in front of your house keeps them away from your door...or they know where you live and your previous support for the Don.
As a property owner in the 6th ward i don't think Neely has been that great of a council person. He rarely attends community or neighborhood meetings even when he is invited. He needs to give up and focus on being a Councilman

back on topic..gentlemen.
There has been much discussion on two white candidates. Neeley has to be under pressure to throw his hat in.
I agree he may scew the vote tipping the scales in Boss Hoggs favor.
The anybody but Williamsdon mindset says Neeley should endorse Walling, if we can be rid of the incumbent.
Neeley's silence speakes volumes.
Peace,

RAP, good analysis.
Didn't Stanley beat the tar out of Williamson the first time? Apparently enough whites were willing to vote for Stanley, and the don did not attract enough black voters that time, Donna Poplar's [and others] assertions about racial voting patterns not withstanding.
So Neeley figures the black vote will still be split [majority to him, but the don will still have his "bought & paid for" minions; the white vote WILL go overwhelmingly to the two white candidates...
So can Neeley even conceive his "write-in" candidacy could anything BUT throw the vote to the don? And as he isn't a supporter of the don's...WHY would he do it? Come on Sheldon simply explain to the people urging you to run the reason you won't.
But.
Maybe he''s holding out/negotiating with Walling for some concrete quid pro quo? perhaps specific promises of administrative appointments or some consideration with services/budgets etc? |

damn biggie9, pretty good observations.....i honestly don't believe
Neeley could garner enough votes to do squat except take some of
the "anybody but the don" votes away from walling. based on that
assumption, i'd agree with you that he is probably attempting to garner
some sort of quid pro quo agreement and if walling has watched ANY
of the council meetings he may not want to do that! |

OR.....is it possible neeley is negotiating a large enough monetary
arrangement with the don to intentionally split the vote??
he's been awful quiet !!! |

Thanks Biggie9,
Once upon a time we used to just vote for the best qualified and not have to wiegh %.
The citizens in Neeley's ward want to keep him just where he is..their voice on council.
Perhaps his hesitation is nothing more than holding out for more wieght for his constituents, as he is their representative.
Sure there are those that want to see things in black and white or appointments.
I do not believe that is his goal.
If he can not win I doubt he will throw in his hat. I believe he has to please some that see in color by waiting prior to endorsing one that can .
NEVER have I thought he was looking for money!
Peace,
RAP |

yeah i don't think he's holding out for money either...the paper trail is too easily found......
but there are many other things that motivate people, and our leaders are no different.
its not unreasonable to project he is looking to gain some advantage around whatever power his endorsement holds...that is a very rational action by a leader. Timing is an important element. |
