I hope they save the architecture on the interior too. I haven't been inside, but I've seen recent pictures. It looks good. No major issues except vandalism and maybe water damage.

I find it kind of funny though. The ABC12 article sounded really optimistic and positive, but the article in the Flint Journal sounded really apprehensive and uncommitted.

I hope it goes through. I hope i hope i hope!

With the interior unheated for decades, I doubt there is any ornamental plaster left intact. It's probably a powdery mess.

True. Although the chances of a redeveloper wanting to totally restore the interior was probably a long shot anyway. But if any pieces of the ornamental plaster remained, a skilled restoration construction company could replicate it. They could even replicate it from pictures.

Still, a company wanting a complete restoration of the Durant is probably not going to happen. I would just be happy with a historically accurate or history-sensitive renovation, incorporating architectural elements of the Durant's heyday.

I hope they restore and keep the first floor and 2nd floor lobby (ball room)

I noticed a lot of people in the hotel today with hard hats on, not sure what was happening...
