The city's leading pastors joined Mayor Don Williamson on Tuesday at a news conference to say they support the mayor - and not because of his money.
"No one has me in their back pocket," said the Rev. Lewis Randolph of Antioch Baptist Church, who said he spoke as an individual and not as the church's leader or head of Concerned Pastors for Social Action. "I'm a grown man and I have the right to make a choice. And my choice is to support Don Williamson."
Then how does he explain the $3,500 the city has given his church in the last year?

"We're here because we feel Don Williamson is the man for this city," said Bishop Odis A. Floyd of New Jerusalem Full Gospel Baptist Church.
New Jerusalem has also received money from the city - $4,600 since 2004.
And that's just taxpayer money that's being spent. What we don't know is how much money Inmate #28301-016 (AKA Uncle Don) has spent out of his own pocket.
It's interesting how they have to point out that it's not about the money. Me thinks thou doest protest too much. |

I do not think it was the direct cash bribes, I think it was hiring his relative that bought this man of god who is clearly not a man of good. Check out Marcus Randolph, working in city hall, did not do city standard testing or competitive hiring practices, but was brought in off the street, given a job and paid more than a GM worker makes.
Next up, you want to ask yourself about Marvin Jennings, who is also working the same type of position in City Hall, and is related to Grace Emmanual Missionary Baptist Church.
Someone in the Urinals talkback section mentioned that it was a shame they filled out the applications and took the tests but others were hired without that requirement. Equal Opportunity in Flint seems to be directly connected to how many votes your church can give Prisoner Williamson.
These are just a few of MANY examples, Don Williamson is a punk, nothing more. |

Why is the CIty writing checks to churches anyways. Is there suppose to be a seperation of church and state? As a tax payer I do not think my money should go to them |

not sure what "venomosity" is......
perhaps venomously or venomous?
the donald's actions in office would cause of tear of pride in old Boss Tweed and the Tammany sachems.
the patronage & corruption of Tammany hall is alive again in the Flint City Hall.
Astounding to see the list of people & groups who have signed up to suckle at the teat of boss don. Hope the milk doesn't sour.
but hey, everyone has their price, and politics is pretty much a quid pro quo business. |
