I know this is old news, but what do you guys and gals think about a new arena and drag strip in the downtown Flint.
I think it is a great idea, especial if it is going to cost the tax payer little or nothing to build.
My only worry is mis-managemen once turn over to the city. |

Steve,
From the sounds of it, its an outdoor stadium...correct?
Isnt what Flint needs a indoor arena/convention center that seats around 20,000 people. To be used for conventions, concerts and a new home of the Flint Generals? It could attract some of the concerts that go to Auburn Hills or Detroit. It seems like it would be cheaper to bring to bring American Idols or some of the better known bands to Flint then Auburn Hills. The citizens of Flint sound be DEMANDING this from the city. |

Near Flint is fine. IN Flint, you'd get noise complaints from those that don't appreciate the finer things in life.
PS - If you were downtown for Back To The Bricks when they fired up the dragsters, I've got news for you. Those were 70's era cars. Today's nitro cars are at least 10 times louder. It has to be experienced to be appreciated. |

20,000 seat is probably too big. We need something around a 10-12,000 seat arena... Something similar to what they did in the Quad Cities... My gramps and I have been going there for years to watch the Generals play against the Mallards (until they left the league). When we first started going there was nothing by the river... now... hotels, restaurants, stores, John Deere Commons... it is really quite impressive how they turned a former industrial brownfield into a vibrant spot for the greater community. |

If anyone has been to Grand Rapids they have a wonderful Arena that is used for multi purposes. ( concerts, sports, conventions, shows, circus, etc)
Flint should build something like that downtown that connects or that is close to the Old Hyatt and a new convention center.
