FLINT - City Councilman Jim Ananich is stepping down as chairman of the Finance Committee, which oversees development of the city's budget, after a year in the position.
He will remain on the City Council.
The budget has been a major source of conflict between the City Council and Mayor Don Williamson. Ananich said he disagrees with "the continued overspending and draining of the surplus."
He said his resignation would allow him to spend more time with his family and work on constituent services.
Ananich said he is not resigning to pursue other political interests, and said he hoped to dispel any rumors that he planned to challenge state Rep. Lee Gonzales in 2008.

What could this have to do with Terry deleting posts and going fishing? If you followed the posts there, check it out. |

Ananach ran to serve his constituents.
Stepping down as finance does not concede he is not correct about the budget. It does not serve his constituents well with this admin to stubbornly stand in the right. No matter how right you are the admin will Fight. Who loses? The constituents.
Congrats to Ananich's family that he puts them first.
Peace,

Sadly, Ananich was wrong. The City Attorney, The State Treasury, and the council's own independent attorney for the most part sided with the administration, stating that their was a partial, not an illegal budget. I think the beginning of this argument was politics to embarass the mayor. |

I have a lot of respect for Jim, he is a very sincere guy!
Even though he represents his ward, he has helped others all
over the city!

Everyone cites "spending more time with family" when there's some other reason. It's the excuse du jour. |
