Hate to break the news, but the table's long gone. I was down there late september/early october. and the only thing of interest was an old car downstairs (maybe a chevette) and what looks like the "leavings" of old squatters or hookers upstairs.

hell, most of the furniture I saw in your flikr was gone too.

although I think there was one F'd up gerny sp? in the corner, but it seemed almost too rusted to even fix up.

heh, yeah. A car.

oddly enough it seemed to be the creepiest thing down there, mostly because it seemed so out-of-place.

I didn't really check the car out that much, it was just parked right up on the wall in the farthest corner from the doors.

Chevette's are collector cars now. I knew I should have jump on that table when I had a chance. Oh well, not meant to be for me.
Thanks for the update.

JustinZ, where there any of the stripped colored chairs still upstairs? Anyway you could swing by again and take some pictures and email me. I will be in Flint in February but would love to see updates.
Richard
I guess we can cancel all efforts in obtaining the table and appreciate everyone's help.

When GM quit making the Chevette the beginning of the end of their national dominance was inevitable. That car was the perfect vehicle for a certain segment of the population. My house owned four of them, I had teenagers in the 80's. I drove a 78 and an 81, purchased new and two of my kids each had one at some time during those 16-18 years. Each and every one was the perfect car for us at the time. They were economical to purchase and to drive. Had the company had the foresight to continue making a vehicle along those lines, perhaps the company (and this city) would not be in such dire circumstances. As a current minivan driver, I still miss my Chevettes (and my late Cavalier wagon) everyday---especially as I pull into the gas station.

Just amother reason Roger Smith's obit was not full of the usual puff.

heh heh heh...Fabio.

"The model and spokesman, Fabio, got a bird's eye view of a new roller coaster at Busch Gardens in Williamsburg, Virginia. But a bird apparently couldn't see him -- it collided with his face during the ride. Fabio was reportedly taken to a hospital for minor cuts and released. A spokesman for his publicist said, "Oh my god! Think if his mouth was open!""

http://www.cnn.com/resources/potd/1999/03/31/

I wonder if the bird survived?
