i have not come to a conclusion about MTA's art purchase.
i cannot call Foy wrong. i understand his wish to improve
the status of MTA and i see nothing wrong with that.
some may say too much was spent at the bus terminal and to
that i'd say the purchases were meant to make traveling by
bus more enjoyable and i see nothing wrong with that. i ride
my bicycle in the summer and last year i got a flat by carpenter
road. i hadn't taken a bus in 35 years. thank god the bus driver
was very helpful! the terminal was very clean, well secured and
actually enjoyable.
as to the expense of art at the main building, i'd say perhaps the
news should have been given to the public by MTA so as to avoid
any "implications" of impropriety. it would have, in my eyes, been
wise to include highschool and college students talent in making
the selected art pieces AND have been a tremendous public
relations coup!!
what are your views??? |

Isnt their a business on the SW corner of carpenter and dort that could have patched that leaking tire for ya or at least made you forget about it for a while. I believe they also have a form of artistic expression going on. |

The whole thing would have been cheaper if they brought their own kids' artwork in for the behind the doors scene. Most of which the public would NOT see.
Also in the Flint Journal article, I think that it was Foy that stated something along the lines of that the money THEORETICALLY could have been used for the buses. Well, then why wasn't it? |

Obviously the art work (including behind closed doors) was more important to Mr. Foy than new buses.
Personally, I think if it was that important to him (especially behind closed doors) he should have bought it himself. |
