You expect to hear cheering, booing, and screaming sporting events.
But Monday night, the yells came from inside Flint City Hall.
It was a packed house as residents told City Council whether they thought Mayor Don Williamson should be removed from office.
The majority of public speakers support Don Williamson as mayor.
It made the Council draw back on its intention to remove him.
With a vote of 6 to 2, Council voted to stop this latest effort to remove the mayor.
The process would have established ordinances that neither the mayor nor other elected officials could break.
The penalty would be removal of office.
Some Council members say it's a matter of being accountable.
Most of the residents at Monday night’s meeting made their opinion known.
If they wanted Williamson out, they would vote him out themselves.
According to Mayor Don Williamson's lawyer, Council has no grounds on which to remove the mayor from office.
Williamson's attorney goes on to say even if council removes his client from office, a judge would have him reinstated.
