While I can't currently find the old threads about Comcast shutting down their local studio and attempting to end channel 17, this is an update thread. Check out channel 17 now.

To be fair, Comcast had nothing to do with the reviving and everything to do with the depriving. Paul Herring and the rest of the Public Access producers still working hard to get their shows on the air with no cameras, no studio, no editing equipment, and having to drive their finished DVDs to Southfield every week deserve all credit and appreciation. Thanks!

Steve, When you going to put some of those YouTube videos into a 1/2 hour or one hour show. We can still get those on Channel 17. Just drop them by the house. I'll get them on.

I see, just reviving the topic. We appreciate it! I just tlaked to Debra Cherry. Going to set up a meeting. She seems more open to fixing the legislation than John Gleason was. Gleason wasn't even interested in making sure the law was enforced as written. Scary, Now he wants to run for Dale Kildee's seat. Whew!

If anyone out there wants to help keep Channel 17 alive and help create a New Media Center for the Area. Your help is needed. Esp if you ahve some background in 501C3's.

I would particularly like to see the one you guys did about Hand Gun Carry. Were you discussed how you don't need a permit if you wear it openly and just follow the same rules as a carry permit.

Got questions about handgun carry try going here. http://www.mcrgo.org/mcrgo/

In the 19th century, Michigan outlawed the carry of concealed weapons. The rational was that a person could use a concealed pistol in a fight and surprise his or her opponent. That is, a person had a right to know if the other person was armed before getting in a dispute. Michigan has forbidden the carrying of a pistol without a license in a motor vehicle, whether concealed or not, for much the same reason. Poachers who would hunt from cars may very well be the reason that we can only carry our long guns cased or in the truck of an automobile (MCL 324.43513). There are other laws that forbid the carrying of pistols with an unlawful intent (MCL 750.226), and the brandishing of a firearm (MCL 750.234e). Since there are no laws that forbid it, the open carrying of a pistol or other firearm, without unlawful intent and without brandishing, outside of a vehicle is legal.

Ya wanna see a swat team quickly arrive on the scene try walking down Saginaw st or going to Genesee valley with a piece openly strapped to your hip. You may be legal but you will likely be hassled to put it mildly. Get a CPL and carry concealed.
