FLINT -- Police still were searching for two men they say shot the owner of Family Market on Wednesday night, critically injuring him.
Victor Joubran was shot twice in the chest during an armed robbery of his store at 2816 Richfield Road shortly after 9 p.m.
Police said Joubran had struggled briefly with two armed men inside the store before the shooting. The men got away with an undisclosed amount of cash.
Police are searching for the men, who reportedly wore dark clothing and left in a gray sport utility vehicle.
Joubran, who was taken to Hurley Medical Center in critical condition, was is a well-liked store owner. The market has d been in his family for decades, customers and neighboring business owners said.
A sign reading "Get Better Soon Victor" was taped to the Market's door Friday morning and friends and customers had been stopping by to sign it.
By Friday afternoon, four messages had been added to the sign, including one that said "magic Vic" with a drawn heart.
Keith Smith, a long-time customer, took a break from working at the pawn shop next door to sign the card about noon Friday.
"Hope U get better soon," he wrote, signing the name of the store he works at, Second Hand World.
After thinking for a minute, Smith added another line "We're praying 4 ya!!"
Smith, who has been shopping at the store for 30 years, plans on visiting Joubran at the hospital soon.
