Come put your political beliefs into action and join us in improving our community by helping to clean up one of the lots owned by the Genesee County Land Bank on Sunday, August 17 from 7 am until the job gets finished. We will need lawn mowing equipment, rakes, garbage bags, and your time. Volunteers are recommended to wear gloves and heavy shoes. Several lots on the city's north and east sides are currently being considered for the project, and the lot's location should be announced Monday, August 11. In the meantime, tell your friends, those at your church and political groups, and anybody else you think might like to help. Send any questions to me, Kevin McKague, at kevin.mckague@yahoo.com , or click on the "private message" icon below this message.

UPDATE: We will be working to clean the two adjacent lots at the corner of Fifth and Stevenson, Sunday, August 17 beginning at 7:30 am. Contact me at the above address or send me a private msg for more info!

The East Side or North End needs it, NOT Downtown/Grand Traverse or Carriage Town.

You're ok too, TT. I haven't forgotten about how you said you would help if only you didn't live so far away. It's the thought that counts. Thanks to those who have already volunteered. I'm on the road now, but I'll be home Saturday, and I'll get in touch with you so we can begin to see what tools we'll have available, and what we'll need. Are you in, LakeWoman?

Want some twine to tie brush into bundles so the city will pick it up?

Yes, thank you Dave. If anybody can think of any items we might need, feel free to mention them here. Anybody else have a lawn mower they are willing to bring?

May I also suggest.......
Paper yard waste bags - the city won't pick up anything else with grass, etc. in it.
I have a chainsaw in case it's needed - anyone got a hockey mask?

I'm able to help after noon. Sunday mornings we go to church, then spend some time with my mother in law.

I have a push lawnmower I'm willing to share. I will be returning from 2tap's neck of the woods on that Sunday but would like to help as much as possible.

Omigosh! TwoTap! Where did you get the term "Jackpine Savages"? That is what my grandpa always called Northern Michiganders. I always thought he made it up.

They are like Carriage Town a bunch of cry babies always wanting more. Those areas get the most of everything, its just not fair!
