This is Dayne's group.

FLINT, Michigan -- A citizens group run by former mayoral challenger Dayne Walling has issued a report saying the city is declining rapidly.

Walling, president of Flint's Future Now, said tax revenue coming to Flint plummeted from $100 million in 2000 to about $65 million this year.

Walling, said the report is not politically motivated even though it helps to show we are going downhill under Williamson but he did say that he would run again for mayor if Williamson were recalled . Organizers are gathering signatures in an attempt to put a mayoral recall on the ballot.

"Shoemaker said there was a fundraiser for FREE in late 2002, but not much effort was put into fundraising: there was no decision-making structure in place, so nothing was really coordinated. Originally there was a central bank account for donations, as well as a website and PayPal; money collected could go into that account or it could go directly to the lawyers to help reduce the debt. The treasurer was Dayne Walling (who worked for the Urban Coalition). When asked if anyone ever gave money directly, Shoemaker said he gave $500 directly to Leventhal, but he didn’t know the specifics of other direct contributions. He had understood that the plaintiffs would make a good-faith effort to raise money for the attorneys. When the depositions came out, legal and other fees became an issue. Shoemaker said people signed onto the lawsuit like it was a petition; he tried several times to coordinate the group, since his career allowed him periods of free time."

When if ever, will Walling get a REAL job?

Is hating on anyone with intelligence, commitment, and a clue a paying gig or just a traditional, regional pastime? Man, it'd be great if every time our egos and comfort zones were threaten by the success or ability of others we'd get some scratch for simply knocking 'em down a few pegs to validate our mature and healthy personal notions of how status and respect should be granted. You know, all hardcore Flint-style-ee like. That's whatsup. This town would be rollin' in it! But with some more money for the true Flint-town ballers yo – and pretty much all the same old other shit. Suckahz!!!

Who's hating him? After all, he's the best the county dem party could come up with.

Flint; 58 years of democratic party control. Last republican was elected in 1950.

He is a smart guy. It was probably smart of him to get out of an area where people knew about his criminal ties.

Tread lightly, Adam. Not sure this is the time to do a bad (or good) political impression of the Don – or worse, take your marching orders directly from him. Knocking Walling will not help you beat Stanley. Neither will recycling Sam 'call me king-maker' Riddle's childish puppet master ads again.

Guess we'll just have to wait to see your detailed plan for the area's future! Can't wait!

I never even talk to Don. I'm really not to worried about beating Stanley. My chances are about 1 in a million anyways if that. I do like Sam Riddle though. His job was to win the election and he got it done.

I've been trying to get the council to legalize home businesses but we're still on the Stanley plan so we can protect neghborhoods from low end jobs. You know the kind that poor black people who dropped out north of the river might be able to do. I also tried to get us a competent police chief but I guess the mayor didn't go for that.

I've read Wallings elitist plan and it seems to going o.k. for the downtown area.

Unlike some people I do hold grudges. Walling is a liar and I will probably try and make him pay for that if necessary.

How is he a liar, exactly?

It's funny to me that people prefer the KNOWN criminal and would besmirch the innocent one.

I bet lots of people are kicking themselves right now over passing on Walling. I only hope he gets another shot.

At the VERY least, he is a THINKING person and he cares what happens to this shithole. Two qualities the CON distinctly lacks.

You make this type of blanket characterization of people and their abilities, but Walling is the elitist? No wonder you think Sam Riddle is such a peach. He too talks out of both sides of his ass because his mouth is regularly preoccupied with his feet. Check out any of Sam's TV appearances, newspaper interviews, and other self-aggrandizing stunts and tell me he is not genuinely amused and shamelessly proud with having been paid big bucks to play master of gutter (even racial) politics to help get the likes of Kilpatrick and Williamson elected. So what if they utterly destroy the cities he knows they have no business leading? Only makes Sam seem all the more the 'miracle worker,' right?

From the NY Times: http://www.nytimes.com/2008/01/26/us/26detroit.html?_r=1&sq=Kilpatrick&st=nyt&adxnnl=1&oref=slogin&scp=3&adxnnlx=1218729693-o5KouIJH+dOJ+VAtLcnrUw

“It’s just a shame to see the talent and the potential of this mayor squandered on a keyboard,” said Sam Riddle, a longtime political consultant who used to work for Mr. Kilpatrick.

And the Don? He should totally be our next Governor!

From the Flint Journal: http://www.mlive.com/elections/index.ssf/2008/04/run_for_governor_could_be_in_f.html

"At that time I fully expect he'll announce he can make a difference in the state of Michigan," Riddle said. "He believes cities in Michigan and the people of Michigan are getting the short end of the stick from politicians who don't know how to take care of business."

Here's a helpful hint, Michigan. If a politician hires (or admires) Sam Riddle as a consultant, vote (or run) the other way.

At any rate, good luck with your grudges, name-calling, and scum worshipping, Adam. You'll have a bright future in Michigan politics.

Thanks for reminding us the all republicans are scum & all democrats are the most wonderful people on the planet. The dems have controlled the county for 58 years; look where it got us.
