True, but they do. And then I don't know what the heck I'd do.

The biggest problem here is that I don't know how to line myself up for it. I guess I should meet the guy holding the seat now, eh?

It's true, it is hard to beat an incumbent, particularly very well funded ones who have a locally famous family surname like Slezak, but it isn't impossible. I didn't get a lot of votes, but I know most of the people who cast them. They are almost all community leaders, teachers, elected officials, party officials, activists, etc. Basically the kind of people that are always paying attention to government, not just during campaigns. If Mr. Slezak isn't careful, he can count on having a challenger in the next primary in two years. Not me though, hopefully.

In Michigan I think only about 1% of state house incumbents lose.

I'd probably meet with him the dems and funding souces if you were really going to run.

I'm thinking about it, actually.
48th district will be vacant in 2010.
I have a different concern, though. What happens
if you lose in 2 years and have to find a new job?
Yikes.
Not to mention the crowd out here. Worried about
cronies.

Ms Demeralda, Prepare yourself for the mission now.
and believe me if you have ideas that sounds good
enough to make the big differances you will get re-
elected. PLus you will be able to deal with them copycats.
The rule of the Political game is to stand up for what
YOU believe in.

(Excuse me a minute Ms Demeralda while I answer
Adam quickly).

[quote=Adam] Why don't you run for state house William?
it only costs $100 to get on the ballot. [/qoute]

First of all Adam, I would not want to be directly involved
in Politrixs, due to the act that where I am now in Politraix
I am okay with being here. I can cuss & raise holy hell in
the position that I am in now as a Political/Community
Activist, but as a Representative of the people in the
Political field I must act professional, and now I can act
the way I choose (It all depends on the situation that I
am encountering).

(Now back to you Ms Demeralda). My journey stated back
in the 1960's during the civil rights movement. I begin to
study all forms of Human Rights. Which included Civil,
voting, freedom of speech, municipal, rights to live or die,
Police Brutalty, Landlord/Tenants,and more.

Until June of 1980 when a group of us got together to
form the Citizens Against Corrupted Politicians. WE have
involved ouselfs as a political underground network that
fight on the behalf of the people. However, we do speak
out on the local, county, state levels (including getting
the former crook Governor John Angler removed), but we
backed off when our current Governor The Honorable Gov
Granholm announced that she will run for Govenor, and
we do not consider ourselves a a lobbyist group.

If you have noticed since I have been here on Flint Talk.
I have shown Kevin full support. Even if he was a write-in,
and I have given Kevin some good suggestions to prepare
himself to run on the ballot in 2010.

I think that its a good point or you ladies to get involved
in Politrixs & Politics. So in closing Ma'am, Start now to
organize a strong platform. Join the right political party Smile
and go for the changes that you feel is right. But bare this
in mind that whatever you see or feel that can change
things use that in your platform planning.

Dem, I will support you in anyway that I can through my
network connection, and like I told Kevin I am telling you
the same....I will be that for you in any way that I can,
You will have my support.

Thanks so much Kevin and Brother William!

I don't know, it was my dad's suggestion... I would never have considered it before. But now, for the first time in a while, I see people choosing ideas, thought, hope and calm wisdom over fear, anger and hyperbole.

While I have plenty of philosophies, local politics should really be about economic development, green space, services, infrastructure and protecting our water, most of all. What balance do we want among them? Not everyone wants big boxes choking up their roads. I don't begrudge communities that do, but it seems like most people advocate more more more. But I digress.

At the state level, I don't suppose I will have arrived at some position on every issue, but I like to believe I'm thoughtful.

These guys all know each other. It's kinda old school around here. And let's face it, I'm like a little blonde single chick rarely taken seriously at first glance. (Until I shoot off my mouth, haha.) And I have quite a paper trail.

But maybe it's just better to be a helper for those who are braver than I. As my friends say, I'm the utility player. In my gamer past life, I was always the healer fairy Smile

I don't think the establishment out here would necessarily embrace me. I just have no gauge.

You're off.

Hope and change is no substitute for wisdom. We've been "changing" (expanding government) for years. That is the problem and not the solution.

You are taken seriously.

I'd accept your help.

The main "establishment" is the unions (teachers & UAW).

Adam, how can you tell anyone where to start, and you are
not doing S*** yourself?

Demeralda, Its time for the younger politicians to take control.
Kevin, is a perfect example of a new comer to politics, and I
am sure that the more you get involve with what's happening
in your community. You will start getting ideas, and suggestions
going through your mind.

Another thing Demeralda to remember that by you being quiet.
What you might want to say maybe the winning uinformation
that can be used. Now take someone like Adam Ford, who is
talking to much, and he really do not know what he's talking
about himself. Everything that he is saying is not interesting.
He just posting loud to make people think that he's a full bag
of chips, and not realizing that he is a empty bag.

Don't worry about being a female in politics. Look at Hillary.
When Bill was President she was not vocal like she is now,
and believe me there is a spot for a new comer like you
to sit in where you can fit in. So give it a thought, and then
consider making the move.

Forty years ago I never did think that I would be involved in
politics today, but how I got involve was standing up for the
right things for all people, and once the politrix bug bit me
I have been standing up against Corrupted politicans and
people like Adam. I have been all around this nation making
my case, and I just served as one of President Obama's
Michigan representives here in Detroit. Just some words to
motivate you Dem.

Adam, the government was bigger under the Republican's control in the Fed Governement.

***The main "establishment" is the unions (teachers & UAW).****

Their influence is dwindling due to their dwindling numbers.

Don't worry. The misnamed "Employee Free Choice Act" will increase union membership.

Right I was explaining why Socialist Republicans expanding government is cause for concern when socialists democrats seem to want to do the same thing.

The teachers and unions are dwindling but they still can put some boots on the ground on Genesee County. From my experience it does seems they are the only establishment out there to help the democrats in Genesee County. Republicans have pretty much nothing.
