When using my vintage ambulance in the Christmas parade I found out people did not make the connection with the ambulance and the funeral home. So, I added funeral home and made the lettering much large. Should be pretty clear now!
Come one and all to see my vintage Lifeliner Ambulance this August at the Holiday Inn-Gateway. It will be at the Bricks Downtown Car Show too!

Back in the day, all the ambulances around here were owned by funeral homes.

That is right. I worked for Zelley Funeral Home/Ambulance in the 70's. Brown Funeral Home ran rigs as did Reigle and Groves & Co. Swartz Funeral Home still has them.

The only ones I can think of that didn't was Dodds & some of the smaller homes.

Same here. And the black funeral homes did not run rigs that I'm aware of.
