I've been wondering about this for a while. Does a candidate, or issue, being endorsed by a particular person or organization influence the way you vote? Would you vote for, or against, a candidate because of a particular endorsement?

NO, I'll listen, research, study facts and then investigate why possibly an endorsement was made. I will attend more than one candidate forum to see for myself rather than watch or read someones media opinion on how a candidate responded.

There is a difference on issues rather than candidates. If it is an issue (a millage proposal, state or federal amendment to the constitution) much more diligence is needed.

Ballot language is usually deceptively written, sometimes a No vote means I agree with the current law or sometimes I agree the law needs to be changed.

Read the fine print and follow the money trail. Then make an informed vote!

Peace,
RAP

BA: I'll vote for you, you "sound" cute...

Rap...I also firmly believe that watching a person in a small town hall type of setting is also key to the decision making, body language and overall handling of the issues that are presented. There was a meeting back in March that I attended, went in with one perception of two people and came out with a totally different perception of my Senator and Rep...totally unbelievable....

I had a similar experience with a couple mayoral candidates. I was surprised that a highly praised candidate would come across as prejudiced.

My decision was based on the fact that one politician seriously wouldn't let anyone get a word in edgewise. A majority of the audience looked like a deer in headlights....just kept yammering on and on...eventually he sounded like the teacher from the Peanuts cartoons...a muted trumpet....good gawd.

Logistically not every voter can do this and forums are very limited so sometimes it's good to have advisors. If you get into higher up politics you for sure do need advisors. With Rublicrats like "track you like a dog" Terry Lynn Land running around I try and be careful who I support. As another example I did vote for Devos because he's less socialist but wasn't thrilled with his Blackwater ties. If I just watched the forums and endorsements I wouldn't know about that.

Things are similar in Flint. If people just go to the forums and analyze endorsements they may make a different decision than if they had insider information that a few people have.

So why did GSI, the teachers and Urinal not endorse me? Also some interesting things happened at the forums you missed.
