The following candidates have filed to compete in the Aug. 3 Flint City Council primary. The top two candidates in each ward will face off in the November general election. The city clerk's office will verify petitions over the next several days, so it's possible the list could change:
• First Ward: Delrico Loyd (i), Darryl Buchanan, Eric Mays, Herb Cleaves
• Second Ward: Jackie Poplar (i), David Davenport, Dianne Martin
• Third Ward: Kerry Nelson (i), Quincy Murphy, Bryant Nolden, Joel Rush, Johnnie Coleman
• Fourth Ward: Sandy Hill (i), Josh Freeman, Dawne Ferguson-Prance, Erick Hempel
• Fifth Ward: Bernard Lawler, Walter Abrams, Patrick Julian, Lynne Waybright, Larry Hutchinson, Joseph Schipani
• Sixth Ward: Sheldon Neeley (i), Phillip Thompson, Jack Walker
• Seventh Ward: Denise Smith Allen, Jack Minore, Dale Weighill
• Eighth Ward: Ehren Gonzales (i), Scott Martin, Michael Sarginson
• Ninth Ward: Scott Kincaid, (i) Todd Pollock, Jeanne Reiter

agreed good race. Who is Denise Smith Allen? did not get to speak with her tonight after brief hello.

There is a scheduled forum for 5th ward July 28th at St. James church-6pm

The other races will be scheduled for forums in neighborhoods.

Suggest locations, moderators.

peace,

First ward is down to Loyd & Buchanan. Cleaves & Mays didn't get enough signatures.

1. 1rst. ward, isn't lloyd that new kid??? seems like a good guy.

2. denise lives in my neighborhood. she's a smart no-nonsense lady. she isn't so much about politics as she cares about the 7th. ward, and i like that.

Loyd's been doing an impressive job, and IMO he's worth keeping. Watch this young man, he's got a good future ahead of him.

If there are only two candidates for the first ward a primary election will not be held in that ward.

That would have been an interesting forum.
