I think it is a great thing that Ingram wins the Heisman. I just wish one of the students from Flint Schools just got some sort of award for an advancement in medicine or some thing like that too. I was going to say a Nobel Prize but looks like that prestige is already gone, with Arrafat getting it years ago. Just hope Ingram doesn't get his head into the clouds and blows his future, I have seen it happen far too much with people from Flint. So congratulation Mr Ingram, remember ,glory is fleeting and fickle, don''t depend on it too much. |

Quite a commentary on people's values when an award for playing a game is considered more important than academic achievement. |

i think you both read a bit much into my statement.
however, do either of you have a child or kin presently attending a flint community school? |

BA, hope Mark Ingram does well both on and off the field, I really do. I just don't value sports as much as you do. And no, didn't send my kids to Flint Schools, I saw where the schools was heading and I sent my kids, at great expense to private schools and when they still lagged in skills, I paid for tutors. All while paying for the failing school system of Flint . I just think schools are just there for more than sports programs. I hope Mark doesn't get around a group of people where they blow his ego out too much and he can keep his feet on the ground while doing well on the field and also learn something in college so he has something to fall back on when the career in football is fading. I just have this silly notion that school is supposed to mean something more than friday and saturday night games . So what is your complaint now against me BA? That I didnt send my kids to Flint Schools? If so talk to the half dozen parents who my kids were friends with in those private schools, they are Flint School teachers themselves. Sort of a sobering thought isn't that one? |

When my daughterinlaw was in the process of becoming a certified teacher she was required to spend some time subbing in some of Flints schools. Lets just say it was an eye opening experience for her to say the least. |

Son graduated in 85, Daughter in 90. If they were school age today, they would NOT be in the Flint Public Schools. |
