Terry Bankert had an excellent commentary going on the charter, but sometimes the thread gets lost among other discussions. So. I thought I'd start a separate thread.

Terry, you mentioned getting people involved in the discussion, and review, of the charter that were outside the usual politically connected group. There is a group of over 30 ordinary citizens that will start meeting right after the first of the year to discuss the charter and other aspects of local government. There is one common thread that ties this group together. It's our city, too, and we deserve as much of a voice as the politically connected have. We feel it's time to shine a bright spotlight on things that go on around Flint, including charter revision and the possible motives behind it.

Information will be posted here when the first meeting is set, and all are invited. No one person, or group, will be allowed to hijack the meetings and turn them into forums for their political agendas.

One topic that will be looked into is who is determined to eliminate the Ombudsman and why they want the office gone.

I know what you mean about hijacked threads.

I am glad you and others are interested in getting this city back on track.

FOR THE THREAD "BACK TO CHARTER REVISION"

I hope those who are sincerely interested in this subject and want to participate will actually READ the Charter before getting involved and develop reasonable and positive examples for change.
