It goes back to the adage: Give a person a fish; they will eat for a day. Teach a person to fish; they will feed themselves for the rest of their lives.

I fully support many union issues and the reasons that unions were originally formed. But the UAW and the Teacher's Union have been two of the most notorious unions for not caring about how much they destroy the system as long as they get theirs.

I said this years before the auto industry fell, that the UAW would put themselves out of jobs and out of the competitive marketplace.

And the teachers union has, as far as I am concerned, never shown any real interest in quality of education, just the quality of their paycheck and benefit packages.

We need to get back to basics, and actually give our kids a real education so they can legally provide for themselves. I understand why so many of our citizens resort to crime for a living. They have not received a quality education that allows them to support themselves.

When it comes to our children's education, we need to see results first and foremost. Teachers' Unions that are unwilling to reward the teachers that give the students the best education, show that they do not care about the students. Maybe the Unions need to spend some of that lobbying money on programs to educate their teachers how to give a quality education to their pupils.

With that said, government needs to figure out a way to turn some of these schools into places of learning rather than halls of terror. When teachers have to spend more time babysitting than teaching, there is a problem. This may be the hardest issue to deal with because these problems usually start at home and are just carried into the schools.

That's the problem. An easy solution that is not so easy. Figure this one out and I'll nominate you for a Nobel Peace Prize.
