Hearing calls on the scanner, but nothing online.
Were you listening Wednesday night? loud disturbance on our block - screaming argument, some punches thrown - but 26 call backlog, so no car available. Also a shooting on W. Dayton, one dead.
Yesterday afternoon, VERY loud argument at a different house down the street, one man with a gun. Fairly quick response, but officer had to leave due to a shooting on Delaware. Two officers came about 40 minutes later, though. Last night, large crowd gathering across from the house on Dayton; house mysteriously caught fire.
Just another day in the hood.

I spoke with a retired Deetroit Cop the other day.He was on duty around 12th st in 1967 when things started to happen. My guess is we could see its like in Flint this summer. The result of course would be anarchy until the National Guard arrived.
I don't expect our State Government to have a contingency plan .

One of my cousins was in the Guard in 67 & was sent to Detroit. He was pissed that they weren't given ammunition because "it might inflame the rioters".

When a riot starts it should be put down immediately.Otherwise it grows like fire.Example L.A. Flint dosen't have the muscle anymore.Be a BoyScout.

Glad I've got homeowners that covers home destruction in the event of a riot. It would not surprise me this summer if one broke out. A neighbor of mine has said he is tempted to board up the house this summer take his family and camper and live at the campground until the fall. That is a tempting idea. This is just going to get worse.
I just wonder how long it would take for the national guard to respond?

lacyw hopefully you have taken the necessary steps to protect you and yours and lets hope in the event it comes about you dont wind up with the new orleans tactic of no firearms allowed in homeowners hands. Lets not forget much like the big easy we have a liberal democrat governor and the same species of vermin ready to loot and rape.

Well twotap,
I am surprised they did not just paint bullseye's on these people. Ok, you can stay in your nice, dry, possibly well provisioned and nicely furnished house, but if looters do come upon you........ you're target practice.
Geez! I am a democrat in many ways, but anything infringing on responsible gun ownership by a private citizen is inexcusable. Especially in a situation like that.

Heres the No.1 democrat giving his views on the very successful concealed carry laws most states have passed based on nothing more than the usual antigun hystericle rhetoric democrats are famous for.

The New Orleans gun confiscation was found to be illegal,( the NRA sued and obtained a permanent injunction against the city of New Orleans, its Mayor and Police Chief.) prohibiting the confiscation of legaly held firearms.
It took about 3 years to win the case. What did the good people of the Crescent City do to protect themselves from roaming looters during the storm ?
Moral, don't give up your Constitutionaly guaranteed rights, even if a Mayor or other elected official thinks its a good idea.
