Flint Police are reeling over news that the South Side Task force $3 million grant may be lost and they are blaming Lock and Walling. A 2 week window to fix problems with taking the officers outside of the target area is being thrown around.
The city was warned to keep the officers in the target area earlier. But shortages in officers has had these officers working in the north end. If the city billed the federal government for offices that were not in the area working on task force job duties, someone higher up should be prosecuted. The prosecutors office was warned of the issue at least 2 months ago.
Community officers have been used to attend council meetings depending on the officers shifts , this may be on overtime. Council members confirmed they asked the chief to assign 2 officers to council. |

So many people at City Hall seem to have the attitude that grants are free money that they can do anything they want with. |

If these officers are no longer being paid for by the grant, they will be back on the general fund. Look for more deficits. |

If there are no longer grant funds for them, and there is no money in the general fund for them, wouldn't you say it's more likely Walling will have them laid off? |

yes they will be laid off, but Flint may have to repay improperly spent grant money. |

A friend of mine said the county commissioners were discussing this issue at one of their meetings. |
