Topic: Is Walling a closet Republican?

Walling and the Young Democrats blasted Williamson during the election between them by saying Williamson was not a Democrat. Walling alleges he is a Blue Tiger Democrat, but his treatment of the unions is the same as that of the Republicans.

He has allowed Donna Poplar and Greg Eason to be the negotiators in the union contracts. The unions have stated publicly they have offered concessions and have even agreed to those requested by the administration. Tha administration, ater being given concessions, then demands more. And then Eason and Walling play a game where Waling says his request for concessions is lower than those demanded by Eason.

We have seen this many times when Eason speaks in Public and the Mayor then says Eason did not know the facts. Remember the Senor millage issue as an example?

Walling is gleeful that there is a bill 4214 that will allow him to break union contracts. He could not stop grinning like an idiot on TV. It appears this is exactly what he has wanted all along.

This is not a Democrstic position. Where are the so-called Michigan Democratic leaders in this issue? Walling keeps saying he will get by wih the help of his "friends in Washington". Since Walling left Washington DC during a major FBI investigation of the Anthony Williams administration he worked for, it would be interesting to see what friends he has left. It could be his former Flint friend who held a fundraiser for him in Washington in violation of the Hatch Act.

Did Walling ever finish his degree in Wisconsin? Did he ever finish and write his paper for the Genesee Institute? Was the job at the Genesee Institute merely a Kildee helping a friend? What about the non profit and the consulting corporation formrd by Walling? Since other politicians, such as Kilpatrick in Detroit, have used their nonprofits as slush funds. one has to wonder what Walling is doing with his.

Dayne started Flint's Future Now in 2008 to help win the fight against unemployment, crime, and a culture of irresponsibility. Growing up in Flint during better days, Dayne knows that it is hard working people that have made this city what it is today.

In addition to running for mayor in Flint, Dayne has worked for U.S. Congressman Dale Kildee, Washington, D.C.'s mayor Anthony Williams, and the Genesee Institute at the Genesee County Land Bank. Dayne has coordinated grants and programs for community organizations of all sizes including Flint Club, which he co-founded. He is now the Manager of 21st Century Performance, a Flint-based company that works with private and nonprofit organizations to develop innovative solutions that benefit democracy's bottom line—people.

Dayne and his wife Carrie and sons Bennett and Emery live in the neighborhood that he grew up in. They are invested in Flint as a family and want to see every child have a future here.

The Buy Flint First program is a cooperative effort between local independent business owners and individuals in Flint to support local ownership and educate our community about the multiple benefits of using Flint based neighborhood businesses.

There are several benefits to having a Buy Flint First program including increased dollars in the local economy. For example, Flint residents do $70 million of their grocery shopping outside the city. Buying 50% more in the city would mean a direct impact of nearly $12 million and 100 new jobs locally.

The Good Beans CaféThis job creation by Flint based neighborhood businesses is important because Flint based neighborhood business will more than likely hire workers from the neighborhoods where they are located. Locally based neighborhood businesses offer women and people of color the best opportunity to own their own businesses. These types of business have fewer and less daunting start up impediments for women and people of color such as start up capital, supply chain infrastructure, and market positioning.

The program launched at Good Beans Café. Start with a cup of coffee at Good Beans Café right in the heart of the city on North Grand Traverse in Carriage Town. Many of the people active in the Flint's Future Now coalition attend the weekly Common Hours on Thursdays at 5 p.m. at Good Beans Café, 328 N. Grand Traverse St. in Flint. This happy hour with a cause brings together students, neighborhood residents, leaders, business owners and anyone who wants to see Flint's greater downtown be a bustling, diverse, 21st Century core of the region.

The Buy Flint First program is looking for partners. Contact info@flintsfuturenow.org with your ideas.

Flint's Future Now is an action group that works for a positive future in Flint. It is a nonprofit organization led by a voluntary board of directors, including the board president and founder Dayne Walling.

The goals of Flint's Future Now are for the Flint area to have a diverse economy, safe neighborhoods, and opportunities for our children. The time is past due for Flint to get into the 21st Century.

Flint's Future Now uses advocacy to push for forward-looking policies by local governments and public-private organizations. The group also is involved in voter education and mobilization initiatives to hold our elected officials responsible for making good decisions on issues affecting our future.

It will take people of all ages and races working together for Flint to have a bright future. By rotating the location of public forums and service activities to every ward, Flint's Future Now will encourage collaboration at the neighborhood level and make connections across the city.

Sign Up Now to link up with the people and organizations working for a better tomorrow in Flint. There are no membership fees or requirements to be part of our coalition. Steering committee meetings are open door and take place the first Tuesday of every month at 7 p.m. at 940 S. Grand Traverse St. in Flint.

Walling isn't satisfied with trying to undemine the unions, he wants to take away the Civil Service Commission so those with and without union representation have no place to turn when treated unfairly.

the law department has repeatedly refused to deal with and constantly postpones the hearings for the women in DCED and their Civil Service complaints. Thus Flint now has a whistleblower lawsuit about the Department of Energy grant. I don't believe Eason and Walling want wmployees telling them they are doing something illegal or improper.

This is a small office with two emplyees and the commission is composed of volunteers. dave Starr may be right and anarchy is coming.
