Every Saturday morning at 8 am on WFLT 1420 Pastor Flynn and Pastor Threkleld have a talk show.
The theme today was were are the activist pastors? Where are the leaders that are needed to fight the collusion of the Republican Party seeking to undermine the democratic principles and attempts to suppress the votes ahead of the November vote?

Why the silence? There is silence in the church and the people are silent. Citizens need to stop, think and evaluate and make a verbal judgement.

Isaiah 62

New King James Version (NKJV)

Assurance of Zion’s Salvation

62 For Zion’s sake I will not hold My peace,
And for Jerusalem’s sake I will not rest,

Until her righteousness goes forth as brightness,
And her salvation as a lamp that burns.
2 The Gentiles shall see your righteousness,
And all kings your glory.
You shall be called by a new name,
Which the mouth of the Lord will name.
3 You shall also be a crown of glory
In the hand of the Lord,
And a royal diadem
In the hand of your God.
4 You shall no longer be termed Forsaken,
Nor shall your land any more be termed Desolate;
But you shall be called Hephzibah,[a] and your land Beulah;[b]
For the Lord delights in you,
And your land shall be married.
5 For as a young man marries a virgin,
So shall your sons marry you;
And as the bridegroom rejoices over the bride,
So shall your God rejoice over you.

6 I have set watchmen on your walls, O Jerusalem;
They shall never hold their peace day or night.
You who make mention of the Lord, do not keep silent,
7 And give Him no rest till He establishes
And till He makes Jerusalem a praise in the earth.

8 The Lord has sworn by His right hand
And by the arm of His strength:
“Surely I will no longer give your grain
As food for your enemies;
And the sons of the foreigner shall not drink your new wine,
For which you have labored.
9 But those who have gathered it shall eat it,
And praise the Lord;
Those who have brought it together shall drink it in My holy courts.”

10 Go through,
Go through the gates!
Prepare the way for the people;
Build up,
Build up the highway!
Take out the stones,
Lift up a banner for the peoples!

11 Indeed the Lord has proclaimed
To the end of the world:
“Say to the daughter of Zion,
‘Surely your salvation is coming;
Behold, His reward is with Him,
And His work before Him.’”
12 And they shall call them The Holy People,
The Redeemed of the Lord;
And you shall be called Sought Out,
A City Not Forsaken.

Williamson was thrown into the mix and Threkheld said the Pasotrs were silent because there was "no more money in the cookie jar" and the campaigns that once loved the north end are not there.

He stated Stanley was recalled because he stopped the money managers from coming across the river. "Don't cross the river' was a angry response from Stanley during the recall.

Threkheld stated that the black community came behind a black candidate for Sheriff, but the system wanted someone else.

Threkheld was wrong when he said the system was changed to have the decision made by a committee of five. The law always had a committee established of three who selected an individual when certain positions were vacated with less than half their term remaining.

Threkheld was talking about Art Evans and the three member panel selected Bob Pickell. This was after Wilson left office.

Councilman Neeley has a show following the pastors. He addressed the public hearing on the street lights.It was advertised in the legal news and buried in the Flint Journal and posted late on the elevators the day before. The posting stated you must be present at the hearing in order to make your comments. There was no provision for written comments.

Neeley stated the time of the meeting was selected in order to make it difficult for working people to attend.

Last year the predominately Republican based foundations presented a forum at mott College that targeted people of color. (see the Ginosko thread page 2) This is part of the Republican strategy to woo people of color to the Republican party. You will notice they wnt to train leaders.

Shannon Polk, Associate Program Officer, C.S. Mott Foundation

Who Should Attend

If you are a person of color working in the non-profit or philanthropic sector, this event is for you! There will be workshops, presentations and networking opportunities with non-profit and philanthropic leaders from around the state designed to equip urban communities and leaders of color with the tools necessary to take on the leadership positions of our communities and pass the reigns to the next generation.

Questions?

Please contact Shannon Polk via e-mail or by phone at 810-766-1771 if you have any questions
