Pastor Randolph opened by stating he would accept no finger pointing or fighting words. He reminded the group that the fate of Genesee County is intertwined with that of Flint. He advised the pastors to "educate our parishioners to vote and to unite to restore what Snyder is taking away."

When Chris Martin spoke, he emphasized how the Emergency Manager and other new legislation on voter suppression is taking us back to a time years ago. He addressed the issues of union attacks, the crime and our racial polarization.

Norwood jewell of region 1 c said the union was there because they agree that Flint is still the heart of Genesee County. We have to stand togethher and educate the community, said Jewell.

Jewell noted that taxpayers may have a rude awakening next year when they pay their taxes because of proposed Republican cuts to the homestead tax credits and tax credits for child care. People need to vote or we will get more like Snyder, who won with only 40 % of the registered voters voting.

Flint has an Emergency manager, said Jewell, because the state took the revenue sharing and then sent in a dictator to take over. "The nerd doesn't care about the 99%, only the 1% controlling us." .

Do you honestly think that the majority of the elected officials would have been there if this wasn't an election year? Come on Sally, you're smarter than that . You know better. What can anyone expect this group to do other than ensure that they will be re-elected for another 2 or 4 years, to suck off the public trough. I guarantee that if this event was held last year, the majority of the electeds wouldn't have been there. What a great photo op for all.

Pastor Randolph addressed the issue of the appointees and others recently employed by the Emergency Manage Brown.

He did not identify positions but he gave a long list of high salaries for his appointees. The total amount would have to exceed the amount Brown claimed to save by eliminating positions.

Randolph discussed the loss of the Flint Paramedic portion of the Paramedic millage to the county. There are only 4 parks and recreation Employees with an $80,000 a year Director, said Randolph.

Randolph noted that we now have no Ombudsman, no redress for police misconduct and othe issues. He elaborated on Flint's history of police abuse complaints and stated the citizens needed someplace to register their complaints.

Randolph almost started preaching as he enumeraated the woes besetting the poorest of the Flint citizens. He discussed the water and sewer increases, the scrap metal thefts, the new $62 street light fees. He said everyone must pay their fair share when he discussed the enormous increases on water and sewer fees on Flint residents, while the county residents received no increases. "A ten thousand dollar home in flint pays more for water and sewer than a one million dollar home in Grand Blanc does.

Randolph discussed the recent killings in flint and demanded that it be stopped.

Community Activist sam Sutton stated that attorneys Andrew Patterson and carl marlinga were suing the state in lansing over the Headley Act -you can't create positions that are not funded. He pointed to the appointees of Brown , such as the Human Relations person he hired who was unable to perform her tasks. Sutton noted that Brown had to hire her a consultant.
Sutton stated that Duane Miller was being paid $130,000 that was not on the books.

It is gentrification said Sutton, and the first move is to get the blacks out of Flint. The more taxes they assess, then sooner of later we can't pay them, he said.

On Monday at 10:30 am there will be a tax abatement hearing on the Uptown Group. Ridgeway White and Troy Farah will be asking for a tax abatement so the public needs to be there. It is all about Power and Flint needs to take it back.

FLINT, MI -- About 100 people gathered at Antioch Baptist Church today to talk about politically organizing around issues that affect Flint.

The meeting was led by a coalition of local elected leaders and clergy, many of them Democrats, and focused on voter registration and other issues, such as the emergency manager law. The coalition is calling itself United for a Purpose.

Petitions for a ballot question that would make collective bargaining rights part of the state constitution were also available.

Flint resident B. Harris, 59, said she came to the meeting to support the unions and collective bargaining.

"I don't think that should be taken from people," said Harris, who said she's lived in Flint for 40 years. "They worked too hard for that."
